The Liberty Community Fund of Colorado

Supporting our community means making sure every member feels welcome, equal and respected. The Liberty Community Fund of Colorado is a new and permanent, community-advised Field of Interest Fund at Community First Foundation making a big difference. The Fund’s purpose is to create an environment where LGBT individuals and their families enjoy the same full freedoms, the equal opportunities and the same quality of life as their straight friends and neighbors.

Fund Goals

  • Mobilize and increase resources for organizations and community-based initiatives that serve the LGBT community.
  • Inspire a culture of generosity.
  • Engage LGBT individuals, straight allies and local businesses in support of the LGBT community.
  • Address current needs through grantmaking.
  • Take a long-term view by building an endowment that provides legacy opportunities for donors and sustained support for the LGBT community.

Impact

The Center received the Fund’s inaugural grant of $30,000 to support its core programs: Rainbow Ally, SAGE of the Rickies, and the Transgender program–and their efforts to help LGBT youth, elders and transgender persons overcome mental emotional and skill-set barriers that often prevent economic security.
