Community First Foundation Appoints Three New Board Members

ARVADA, CO (March 21, 2014) –Community First Foundation has appointed three new board members who bring professional experience in medicine, community relations and banking as well as decades of  community and public service.

The new board members are Christopher Ott, MD, FACEP, chief medical officer for St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood; Lynne D. Valencia, vice president, community relations at KUSA-TV  NEWS; and Hereford Percy, retired president of FirstBank North.

“We are thrilled to have these three community leaders join the board of directors. They will bring great insights and depth of knowledge to our already-strong board,” said Marla J. Williams, president and CEO of Community First Foundation.

Dr. Ott has served as chief medical officer for St. Anthony Hospital since 2012. He was previously the medical director for the St. Anthony Emergency Department. Dr. Ott is also on the board of both the Denver Medical Society and the American College of Emergency Physicians Colorado Chapter.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Marquette University and his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Ott is also on the boards of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, One Colorado and he serves as the treasurer of the Colorado Democratic Party.

Valencia has been vice president, community relations at 9NEWS since 2007. She has served on the Gannett Leadership and Diversity Council and is a graduate of Leadership Denver and the Center for Creative Leadership. She was recently named one of Colorado’s “most powerful and influential women” by the Colorado Diversity Council and has received the Women of Distinction award from the Girls Scouts and the University of Denver’s Founder’s Day Award for Community Service.

Valencia received her bachelor’s from the University of Colorado and a Master of Special Studies in Communications from the University of Denver.

Percy retired from FirstBank North in 2006 after 20 years in that post. He currently serves on the Colorado Commission on Higher Education. He previously served on the Jefferson County Board of Education as well as the boards of the Independent Bankers of Colorado, Arvada Economic Development Association and the Longmont Symphony. He is a graduate of Louisiana State University.
