The Center Receives The Liberty Community Fund of Colorado’s Inaugural Grant

ARVADA, CO (December 10, 2014) – The Liberty Community Fund of Colorado Advisory Board is pleased to announce The Center (The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center of Colorado) is receiving the Fund’s inaugural grant for $30,000.

The Liberty Community Fund of Colorado is a permanent, community-advised Field of Interest Fund at Community First Foundation. Launched in November 2013, the Fund works to create an environment where LGBT individuals and their families enjoy the same full freedoms, the equal opportunities and the same quality of life as their straight friends and neighbors.

The Liberty Community Fund grant is supporting The Center’s core programs — Rainbow Ally, SAGE of the Rockies and the Transgender program — and their efforts to help LGBT youth, elders and transgender persons overcome mental, emotional and skill-set barriers that often prevent economic security.

“We thank The Liberty Community Fund of Colorado for selecting The Center as its inaugural grant recipient,” says Debra Pollock, chief executive officer, The Center. “Economic self- sufficiency is the goal of individuals and families throughout Colorado, but for many within the LGBT community achieving that goal can be extremely difficult. This grant will enhance our efforts in this area and help many of The Center’s key constituents.”

“We selected The Center to receive our inaugural grant because grant dollars are providing direct programs and services to the LGBT community,” says Christopher K. M. Leach, chairman of The Liberty Community Fund of Colorado Advisory Board. “We are proud to support programming that fosters self-sufficiency by connecting low-income individuals and non-traditional job seekers with the resources necessary to pursue a higher quality of life.”

The Liberty Community Fund of Colorado inaugural grant is made possible through the generosity of The Liberty Community Fund’s Founding Donors and other supporters.

The Fund Advisory Board invites the community to support this effort by making a donation at ColoradoGives.org on Colorado Gives Day, December 9, 2014. Search for the Fund under Community First Foundation or under Fundraising pages.
