Foundation Appoints New Board Members

ARVADA, CO (March 28, 2016) – Community First Foundation has elected five new board members who bring professional experience in marketing, financial services, public health, information technology and law to the Foundation’s already strong board of trustees. All five members were installed in January 2016.

The new board members are:

  • Russell W. Kemp, attorney with Ireland Stapleton
  • Shelley A. Marquez, Senior Vice President, Community Development Manager with Wells Fargo
  • Ron Meyer, retired community pediatrician for Pediatrics West
  • Robert Urwiler, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer with Vail Resorts
  • Christine Woolsey, Senior Vice President and Chief Communications and Marketing Officer with SCL Health

“Each new board member embodies the spirit of stewardship, innovation, integrity and service that makes Community First Foundation great,” said Marla J. Williams, president and CEO of Community First Foundation. “Their professional skills and commitment to our community complement and enhance the experience of our board, ensuring we have a strong board to help us do our best work.”

Russell Kemp, Esq., has previously served on the Foundation’s Governance Committee. He will continue to serve on this committee in his new role. Russell is an attorney at Ireland Stapleton in Denver and has held that position since 1998. He represents clients in business deals and disputes and in estate planning and probate. Russell has a passion for creating connections and partnerships between nonprofits serving the Denver community.

Shelley Marquez is Senior Vice President and Community Development Manager for Wells Fargo. Based in Denver, she and her team support economic development projects related to affordable housing, financial education, workforce development and small business success across 17 Midwest, Rocky Mountain and Southwest states. She has 33 years of experience in financial services and has spent the last 23 years with Wells Fargo.

Ron Meyer, M.D., is Clinical Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He conducted office based teaching in his community practice from 1972 until his retirement in 2012. He also taught at The Children’s Hospital and at Denver General Hospital. He regards the opportunity to have been intimately involved in the lives of his pediatric patients, families and staff as the most rewarding aspect of his career.

Robert Urwiler has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Vail Resorts since 2006. He has been in the technology-enablement field for over 30 years and has previously held CIO roles at Macromedia, Inc. and Peregrine Systems, Inc.

Christine Woolsey is Senior Vice President, Chief Communications and Marketing Officer at SCL Health. She has served in this capacity since 2010, is a member of the company’s senior executive team and also handles system government relations and philanthropy strategy. Chris began her career as a business journalist in Chicago and, prior to joining SCL Health, was a senior consultant for the global public relations agency Hill & Knowlton, Inc.
