IRA Program: Giving Made Easy
Ariantha Stettner, board member of Historic Routt County in Steamboat Springs, believes in giving back – ideally to as many causes as possible. Community First Foundation’s IRA program makes it easy.
“While I can’t be a grand patron for just one cause, I can make modest gifts to several charities. Community First Foundation’s IRA program makes this simple,” she explains.
In 2016, the IRS enacted a permanent provision allowing individuals age 70 ½ or older to bypass income tax and direct up to $100,000 per year from their IRA to charity through the use of required minimum distributions (RMDs).
“Through Community First Foundation, I make one distribution and receive a Giving eCard to use on ColoradoGives.org. This process lets me do my charitable giving through my IRA whenever I want to. I take my time and do it throughout the year,” says Ariantha. “The Foundation’s program really is an extraordinary benefit.”
